Alumni Association members often best articulate why it is important to stay connected to the University. Alumni Kevin and Danielle Heikes, share what being Alumni Association annual members means to them:
"Since moving to the Kansas City area in 2001, we have remained very active and engaged with Colorado State University activities and help lead the local Kansas City Ram Network. The KC Ram network is very involved in local social events, CSUnity, game watch parties, and alumni visits to the area. Kevin also serves as a CSU Alumni Ambassador and enjoy participating in college fairs and events around the Kansas City Metro area, and visiting with high school students regarding the many benefits of CSU. One of our favorite times of the year is when the CSU Livestock Judging team comes to Kansas City for the American Royal.
Being CSU alumni members not only keeps us both connected and up to date with happenings at the university (through the AlumLine, Facebook, and Twitter), but it has also allowed us to build a local network of Rams in KC with whom we have developed many life-long relationships. Our local group participates in many activities together, but most important is the time to gather with fellow Rams and reconnect with college Alma Mater.
It is an honor to have the opportunity to spread the CSU story around the Kansas City area. To us, being an alumnus/alumna is not an obligation; it is a privilege we relish. Even though we have moved out of the state, the connections to CSU through the Alumni Association helps our family stay involved and maintain the CSU Ram Connection that we all share!"
Kevin and Danielle Heikes live in Lenexa, Kansas with their two year old daughter, Kyleigh.
